Top Makeup Products to Swap

Over the last few years, I have made a lot of swaps to safer products with cleaner ingredients. If you're not quite ready to throw out your entire makeup bag, I understand! Instead, consider what products are the most important or most impactful swaps (mine are below). Then, as you run out of different items maybe consider a safer swap instead of reaching for your tried and true. There are more and more clean options out there, so just because one isn't your jam don't give up completely! I'm always happy to make recommendations or read ingredients with you.

Foundation - Foundation is an extension of your skin care. It locks in everything you've already put on your skin, so you don't want to take great care of your skin only to cover it with chemical filled foundation. Pick a foundation that works with your skin and your skin care. Plus, you're covering more surface area with your foundation than any other product you put on. It only takes 26 seconds for what you put on your skin to get into your bloodstream. So, swapping your foundation to one with clean ingredients can have one of the biggest impacts.

Eyeliner and Mascara - If you saw my previous post about why I started switching to cleaner and safer products this is no surprise. Anything this close to your eyes can easily inadvertently end up getting in them. Coming from the girl that chemically burned her eye and has cut her eye more than once (yes I rocked a patch), products like eyeliner and mascara that are right next to and easily rubbed into your eyes are of high priority to me.

Lips - This one is probably the most obvious. Think about how much you lick your lips; you're essentially ingesting whatever lip product you choose. On average, women eat one pound of lipstick each year. Unfortunately, 61% of lipstick still contains lead. So next time you pick out a new lip color, opt for a great color in a clean formula.
