I'm interested in safer swaps, but where do I even begin?
So maybe you're looking for safer, cleaner products but you're also not trying to throw away everything you own. I FEEL YOU! Let's talk about where to start and some bundles that can save you money in the process. I've been using LimeLife for 3+ years now. I did not buy everything at once! I chose to start with a collection and I've added and made other swaps beyond skin care and makeup ever since.

If you're looking to start somewhere without completely emptying your makeup bag or cabinet here's the order I suggest along with some rational:
I always suggest starting with skin care and foundation. First, taking care of your skin means less that makeup needs to cover up. Second, these are the products that people use most frequently and use all over their face. It's what your body is absorbing the most of so if you're looking for cleaner options this is going to have a big impact. Third, foundation is an extension of your skin care. It locks in those products and again covers your entire face.
As you're ready to replace more, I would move to lip products and eyeliner/mascara. As we've gone over a lot thanks to the pandemic, what is on and around your mouth and eyes is a big deal. Lipsticks, glosses, and balms making the second round in my opinion because you directly ingest these product. Not only are they sitting on your lips to be absorbed into skin but they also get licked off and inadvertently eaten. Mascara and eyeliner are so close to your eyes and can easily end up in them through rubbing, sweating, or even the slip of a hand during application.

After my initial purchase, I tended to replace with cleaner options as I ran out of old products. There are also a couple bundling options that can be used to start off or to build your collection.
Teen Collection - Really this should be named the "Starter Collection" because it gets you a great variety to start with. This can be almost an entire face in one bundle (which also saves you money). In the Teen Collection you get a foundation and 2 concealer pallet, a powder (blush, bronzer, or setting powder), 2 eyeshadows, and a lip gloss.
Take 2 Collection - This one is super simple, mascara and eyeliner. You can choose black or brown for both. Then you also get to choose between an eyeliner pen (think liquid eyeliner without the mess) and a waterproof gel liner (your basic pencil but smoother).
AmazeBox - This is our monthly subscription box and it's truly amazing! It's a great way to try out new products and build up your collection at a major discount. It includes full sized and travel size products to try out (and fall in love with). I've been getting this box for a year now. I'm excited for it to arrive every month and have found a couple products I really like that I would have never tried like Eye Arise.
In the spirit of complete openness and honesty, I'm going to share my initial purchase. I started with skin care and makeup because honestly my skin was a wreck at the time, and I had gotten a chemical burn from my old concealer so I was motivated to say the least. I started with a Skin Confidence Collection (cleanser, moisturizer, and mask), a Teen Collection (foundation and concealer, blush, 2 shadows, and gloss), and I added on an Enduring Lip Color because I really wanted to try it out.
I'm always learning more and making safer swaps in my own life. It's been a process but I've really enjoyed the growth and learning along the way. You don't have to start from scratch all at once.
